This travel guide shows how to spend 48 hours in Portland Oregon. Waking up early Friday morning, donuts and a hot coffee are essential so hit Blue Star Donuts before the peak of the morning line hits.

Following the donuts hit the 45 minute drive to Oregon’s tallest waterfall: Multnomah Falls. Since it gets crowded easily, it’s best to hit it in the morning. Portland is a big city on brunch, there one may find many popular brunch spots like ‘Sweedeedee’ and Broder Nord.

Following brunch, headover to Portland’s beloved book store, Powell’s books. Based within the popular Pearl District, be sure to wander around the markets and the small stores surrounding it. Teahouses are rather big in Portland, take the time to find the best one for you, Lan Su Chinese garden and Red Robe are some popular ones.

With many food carts, dinner is fast and nearly everywhere. For a quality desert, visit the ‘Salt & Straw Ice Cream’ spot to get some of the best ice cream ever. Soon after be sure to visit a brewing site, preferably the Cascade Brewing for a sour and fruity beer tasting session that will surely open ones eyes to beer. One should not disregard smoothies and acai bowls as that is very Portland in itself, so head over to Moberi on NW 23rd to snag that quick and healthy breakfast to get the day started better.

Following the refreshments go traverse the Redwood trail thats nearby to gain access to some of the best views around. Within the trail lies the Portland Japanese garden that’s laden with small bridges and a whole lot of zen.

Towards sunset, head to the McMenamins Kennedy school for a nightcap. A restructured elementary school, the area now serves as a hotel with a movie theater and a venue with restaurants and bars. Be sure to check out the Portland Saturday market for further souvenirs and items from local artisans as well to conclude a trip well done in the weirdest city in the U.S.
